ESOL Courses

Beginner A1 (ESOL entry 1)

This course is suitable for absolute and ‘false ‘beginners- i.e. the learner has acquired some English on a beginner level, often at school, and needs the confidence to learn the basics in a supportive environment. At the end of the course, you will be assessed on your speaking, reading, writing and listening. You will then move to the next level.

Elementary A2 (ESOL entry 2)

This course is suitable for learners who have either completed the beginner course, or can say or understand a few things in English. For example, can understand sentences and frequently used expressions, communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters, describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background.

Pre-intermediate B1 (ESOL entry 3)

This course is suitable for learners who have completed the elementary course or can communicate simply in English. Can express themselves using more sophisticated vocabulary and begin to utilise more complex language. Confidence is increased as the learner can communicate with more accuracy.

Intermediate B1 (ESOL Level 1) 

This course is suitable for learners who have completed the elementary course or can communicate simply in English. Can express themselves using more sophisticated vocabulary and begin to utilise more complex language. Confidence is increased as the learner can communicate with more accuracy.

Upper Intermediate /First Certificate B2  (ESOL Level 2) 

This course is suitable for learners who have achieved intermediate level and wish to progress to upper intermediate level. There will be opportunities for First Certificate examination preparation. Can understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options

Advanced/CAE A1-2 

This course is suitable for learners who have achieved Upper intermediate level and wish to progress to Advanced level. There will be opportunities for CAE examination preparation. Can understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
