Employability Support

Anglo Skills College is dedicated to focusing on students’ achievements and enhancing their employability. We understand that employability skills — including individual abilities, values, and professional traits — are essential for success in the workplace.

These skills are crucial for preparing for employment, such as registering with recruitment agencies, creating effective CVs and cover letters, utilizing job agencies, and leveraging social media for career opportunities.

Below, we have listed some ways you can improve your chances of employment.

Enhance Your Resume/CV

  • Tailor your CV for each job: Highlight relevant skills and experience for each specific role you apply for.
  • Use clear, concise language: Ensure your CV is easy to read and free from jargon.
  • Highlight transferable skills: Focus on skills that can be applied to various industries and job roles.
  • Include achievements, not just duties: Demonstrate how your work made an impact in previous roles (e.g., “Increased sales by 15%”).
Once this is done, we recommend sending your CV to a trusted person for a thorough review. A fresh set of eyes can spot errors or areas for improvement that you might overlook. Additionally, there are CV checkers and online tools that can analyse your document, highlight key mistakes, and suggest improvements in formatting, content, and keyword usage to increase your chances with recruiters.
Here are some sites to explore:

Improve Interview Skills

  • Practice common interview questions: Prepare answers for typical interview questions such as “Tell me about yourself” or “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”
  • Conduct mock interviews: Practice with a friend, family member, or career coach to get comfortable answering questions under pressure.
  • Research the company: Understand the company’s values, products, services, and culture before the interview.
  • Dress appropriately: Wear professional attire that is suitable for the job and company culture.
  • Show enthusiasm: Employers appreciate candidates who are excited about the role and company.

Improving your performance in interviews is all about building self-confidence and believing that you are the best person for the role. It’s important to give interviewers a clear reason to see your potential. Naturally, you already possess the skills needed for the job, especially if you’ve completed a course with us. The key is to embrace the skills and knowledge you’ve gained and showcase your abilities with confidence. Let your experience speak for itself and demonstrate why you’re the perfect fit for the position.

Be Persistent and Organized

  • Stay consistent: Job hunting can take time. Apply to multiple roles and keep track of your applications and deadlines.
  • Follow up: After interviews or applications, send a thank-you note or follow-up email to show your continued interest.
  • Stay positive: Job searching can be challenging, but maintaining a positive mindset will keep you motivated.

Staying in contact with recruiters via email or platforms like LinkedIn is one of the best ways to remain consistent and stay up-to-date with the latest job opportunities in your field. If you don’t already have a LinkedIn account, I highly recommend creating one and optimizing it to make the most of its professional networking features. By regularly engaging with recruiters and following up on job openings, you can significantly increase your visibility and improve your chances of securing a role.
